(1) Casting
Casting is a manufacturing process in which a liquid material is poured into a mold containing a cavity of the desired shape and then allowed to solidify. Castings include stern shafts, stern frames, anchors, fairleads, propeller flanges, and stern tubes.
(2) Forging
Forging, another manufacturing process, uses localized compressive forces to shape metal. Forgings include rudder posts, shafts, etc.
